Mary Theresa Dietz, Artist
I am a Tucson, AZ based fine artist working in many types of media and always trying new ones. I've been creating and selling my art for more than 50 years. However, I don't remember a time when I didn't consider myself an artist and I can remember pretty clearly being age 4. Even then, there was nothing more exciting to me than doing art.
I paint mostly with oil sticks, but I also do encaustic painting, sculpture, printmaking, drawing, and combinations of these media. My subjects include animals, figures, portraits, the occasional landscape, and combinations of all these subjects. Lately I’ve been doing work with no subject at all.
My influences include folk art, pre-Columbian, ancient Egyptian, and ancient European art, German expressionism, the Fauves, animals and the natural world, and my subconscious.
My work is in numerous national and international private collections and public collections including Tucson Public Library and Ronald MacDonald House.
