Though I have worked in fired clay, wood, and papier-maché clay, these days I usually work in papier-maché clay over an armature of foam rubber, paper, cardboard, and steel. I paint the sculpture usually with encaustics, but also sometimes with oil sticks, enamel paint, and/or cold wax paint. I often add other things to the sculpture such as feathers, leather, or beads. Lately, I have been combining painting or 2D work with sculpture or 3D.
